Licensed for over 27 years, a Broker Associate and a consistent top sales agent, specializing in new construction, Melissa Macfadyen has a real estate career as long as the coastline. “I have seen prices rise and fall more than once,” she says. “I have seen neighborhoods be gentrified and spring forth new. I have sold property from downtown to the beaches, watched communities like downtown LA and Venice beach be completely transformed. My passion for this business lies in my love of an ever changing environment.” Her local knowledge is unparalleled.

A native Californian and fourth generation Angeleno, Melissa was born in Santa Monica, raised in Malibu and currently resides in Venice. Long time Malibu residents may remember her grandfather, Jack (WJ) Macfadyen, whose firm, The Macfadyen Company, specialized in real estate and insurance sales. “I’ve been around real estate my entire life,” she says. “As a child, my dad was always driving us around to look at property. Whether it was an investment he was considering or a house he had insured, it was a family past time to look at real estate. You might say I was destined to have a career in this field.”

Melissa attended college on a full athletic scholarship, playing volleyball for universities in Nevada and Colorado and earning a BA in journalism from Cal State Northridge. Having a strong interest in legal affairs, after launching her real estate career, Melissa returned to school and obtained a certificate of paralegal studies from UCLA. “There’s always more to learn in this business. The more I educate myself, the more skillfully I can represent my clients in this highly competitive marketplace.” Melissa is also a member of the Beverly Hills Greater Los Angeles Association of Realtors Professional Standards  Committee.

My philosophy is straightforward, the customer always comes first,” Melissa says.  “This is not just a concept, it’s the way I work, it’s the way I was raised. To give back to the community, to put others first.” It is an approach that has earned Melissa wide respect among her clients and peers.  Among her many other achievements, she launched and managed a Santa Monica real estate office and was the broker of record for a real estate office of over 100 agents. During her free time she enjoys organizing local fundraisers for charity. Currently she works closely with the board of directors organizing fundraisers for the new, relocated Santa Monica History Museum.
